Jan Collins Selman

Painter and printmaker, Jan Collins Selman's landscapes of Cape Cod and Maine have been a subject ofsome fifty years.

Educated at (SMFA) School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in the early sixties, Selman credits her classical painting approach to T. Lux Feininger, her painting instructor. Printmaking won Selman her first scholarship of many.

Today Selman clearly sees Feininger's influence in her work - compare, to left: her approach is rooted in his Bauhaus asthetic of a lyrical, Cubist-inspired vision, solid design and construction, technical mastery and an emphasis on color and light.

Solid design with Cape light and color in every season is Selman's true subject matter .

Since living on Cape Cod, Selman has garnered many prizes, honors, and awards.

Her work is in the collections of Politicians, Movie Stars, and Corporations.
